WORKING IT OUT

welcome to my world! join me on my quest to find the deeper meaning of what it is to be in this universe. sometimes it will look and sound as crazy and non-sensical as real life can sometimes be, but don't freak out. hopefully, during the process, we learn a little bit more about ourselves and the world we live in as we enjoy the good, survive the bad and figure out everything else in between.

10000 b.c., a new easter classic

okay folks, we just caught a late night showing of 10000 b.c. and i wanted to say it wasn't as stupid as i thought it was going to be. it isn't exactly an original idea for a plotline: a boy must prove himself to be a man and lead his people to freedom from the menacing overlord and in the process save his lady love. um, we've seen variations of it in stargate, apocalypto, willow and legend to name a few. the difference here is that it uses the genre of dinosaur/caveman movies as it backdrop. yet, again, not original. let's see, clan of the cave bear and quest for fire are two films that easily come to mind.

anyfilmgoer, if you've seen any of these flicks or, like me, have seen them all and somehow managed to enjoy their attempts at entertainment, then you'll most likely find something enjoyable and entertaining about this movie. it's not going to win any oscars for writing, acting or even special effects but it does the job in taking you into a fantasy world for 109 minutes. although it's storyline doesn't veer too much, if at all, from it's straight-forward trajectory it does at least weave in bits and pieces of the legends and speculations of some of the great mysteries of human evolution: the existence of atlantis, the building of the pyramids, the possibility of extraterrestrial influences on both and the such. it's not at all based in logic or reality, so don't be disappointed if you leave the theater feeling like you haven't learned anything of value. you won't. and that's okay if you're not too attached to the ten dollars you spent on your ticket. otherwise wait for it to come out on dvd or cable.

steven strait out of character

i will just say that my ten bucks was well spent on eyecandy. at least i won't gain any calories from that.

steven strait all dirtied up with camilla belle

but before you leave, let me remind you...
